Jonathan Elton joins our lab as a PhD student.
Welcome, Jonathan.
Max wins the Carl-Roth-Förderpreis
Congratulations to Max for winning the Carl-Roth-Förderpreis of the German Chemical Society! Excellent achievement.
New Year = New Institute!
We are happy to announce that our group starts this year in a brand new institute:
Institute of Biological and Chemical Systems - Functional Molecular Systems (IBCS-FMS).
We launched IBCS-FMS on the 1st of January 2020 as an interdisciplinary institute combining fundamental and applied research in Biology, Chemistry and Materials Science. Our group is proud to be a part of a great team of chemical and biological labs of Stefan Bräse, Gary Davidson, Veronique Orian-Rousseau, Mike Meier.
Here is a new website of the institute: https://fms.ibcs.kit.edu/index.php
Special issue of Advanced Functional Materials
It´s been a pleasure to organize a special issue of Advanced Functional Materials together with Joanna Aizenberg. The topic of this issue will be "Assembly of Materials Building Blocks into Integrated Complex Functional Systems".
This will be a very strong issue. Just check out some names: Christopher Barner-Kowollik, Stefan Bräse, Hans-Jürgen Butt, Andreas Greiner, Joerg Lahann, Haeshin Lee, Joao Mano, Ali Khademhosseini, Wim Noorduin, Molly Stevens, Andreas Walther, Martin Wegener, Han Zuilhof, Carsten Werner and many others. This is the first announcement and the issue is still not online.
I would like to thank Jos Lenders and Joern Ritterbusch for helping with organization.

Advanced Therapeutics paper accepted
Congratulations to Anna! Our invited review on "Precision medicine in oncology: in vitro drug sensitivity and resistance test (DSRT) for selection of personalized anti-cancer therapy" is accepted for publication in Advanced Therapeutics. Well done.
ERC Consolidator Grant presentation in Brussels
Pavel Levkin presents his ERC Consolidator Grant in front of the reviewers board in Brussels. Fingers crossed.
Zhenwu Wang joins our lab as a PhD student.
Welcome, Zhenwu.
100 research publications
The Levkin Lab just reached 100 journal publications. Congratulations to all group members and all of our collaborators.
DMA goes Personalized Medicine and HT-Mass Spectrometry
Three projects have been funded by the Ministry of Science and Art of Baden-Württemberg (MWK). One project (PI Dr. Anna Popova) is a strong collaboration with the University Hospital in Heidelberg (Dr. Sascha Dietrich) and will focus on the development of a novel personalized medicine approach to address cancer treatment. The other two projects focus on further development of different aspects of the droplet microarray platform for cell screenings and mass-spectrometric readouts. We also thank and congratulate our collaborator - the group of Prof. Carsten Hopf (HS Mannheim/CeMOS). Congratulations to Anna, Max and Dorothea!

Professor Azizian joins our lab as a visitor
Welcome!
Alisa's manuscript has been accepted to Materials Today Bio
The manuscript titled "Solid-phase combinatorial synthesis using microarrays of microcompartments with light-induced on-chip cell screening" will be online soon - congratulations to Alisa and all of her co-authors!!!
Aquarray wins a major EU grant
Congratulations to the whole team of Aquarray, especially Simon and Anna, for winning an important EU grant (SME Instruments) of about 1,7M€! This grant will accelerate Aquarray´s development of precision medicine products and will help enter the market of Personalized Medicine. It is especially exciting to receive such an award where success rate is just about 3-5%...
